Prashant Shrestha

Prashant Shrestha was an important contemporary artist of Nepal. He was the founding leader of he “kasthamandap Art studio” which was established in 1994 in Kathmandu together with seven fellow founding members. He played an important role in shaping modern Nepali art during 1990s, encouraging new ideas, teamwork, and a move beyond traditional academic styles. Prashant’s works are mainly known for their detailed technique and meaningful visual stories, showing skill as well as thoughtful expression. He was known for encouraging collaboration among artists during the early development of contemporary art groups in Nepal. Many of his ideas were focused on building a stronger and connected art community in Kathmandu

Prashant Shrestha passed away in 1999, leaving behind a strong artistic legacy that continues to inspire the Nepali art community. His vision helped inspire a generation of artist to develop their own creative voices while still valuing collaboration. Through his contribution, he helped support the foundation of contemporary art practice in Nepal. Prashant Shrestha is remembered as an important figure in the growth of modern Nepali art.
