Sudeep Kumar Bashyal

Sudeep Kumar Bashyal is a visual artist whose practice centers around printmaking and painting. Born on 21 July 1987, he holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Painting and a Master’s degree in Graphic Arts (Printmaking) from the renowned Faculty of Fine Arts at The M.S. University of Baroda, India. His work often explores the intersection of natural landscapes and personal memory, expressed through a sophisticated blend of textures, abstraction, and figurative elements. Sudeep’s compositions reveal a engagement with materials, rooted in traditional techniques yet open to contemporary experimentation.
Over the years, Sudeep Kumar has been widely recognized for his contributions to the visual arts. He is a three-time recipient of the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant (2015, 2016, and 2019), awarded to artists with a strong commitment to the discipline. He was honored with the Gujarat Lalitkala Printmaking Award in 2014, and earlier in his career, received the National Painting Award in Nepal in 2008.
Sudeep Kumar’s work has been exhibited extensively across Asia and Europe. He has participated in major international print biennales, including the 2nd International Print Biennale in India (2021), the International Biennale Print Exhibit in Taiwan (2018, 2020), the Graphic Art Biennale in Romania (2018), and the Guanlan International Print Biennale in China. His work has also been featured in the Tokyo Mini Print Triennial, and in multiple state-level and institutional exhibitions across India, including annual shows by Gujarat Lalit kala Academy and university displays.
In addition to his exhibition record, Sudeep Kumar has worked with several leading artist studios such as Priyasri Artist Studio and Coppar Artist Studio in Baroda, Mudrana Studio in Karnataka, and Space Studio. These experiences have further refined his technical skill and deepened his understanding of printmaking as both a craft and a conceptual medium.
